Ok, as you already know that I LOVE SHOES! So... I could not resist, I had to go to the FFANY shoe show this month to see what’s happening and meet some new brands. I was excited for so many reasons, for one, i got to see some of my industry friends and check out the new shoes and brands to the marketplace.

I came across some really great new brands that I want to share with you and my prediction for these brands is that they will be very successful, and you will see why. These brands are very unique and all offer something revolutionary and special to the footwear industry. Of course I love almost all shoes, but these brands really caught my eyes with their styles and quality. Enjoy!

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Salvatore Ferragamo is not just a name behind a brand, it’s a Ferragamo family owned business till today. The Italian footwear designer Salvatore Ferragamo was born in Bonito, Italy in 1898. Ferragamo was the founder of the Salvatore Ferragamo brand and company. Ferragamo started making shoes for his sisters since the young age of nine, at that time he was certain about what he wanted to do with his life. This is what motivate him to emigrate to Boston, Massachusetts then California in 1914. In 1923 he opened his first shop called Hollywood Boot Shop where he made shoes for notable movie stars and his shoes appeared in many silent films as well. A few later in 1927, he moved to Florence, Italy and opened a shoe shop there. However, during the great depression, Ferragamo filed for bankruptcy in 1933, by 1938 he was in a great position to purchase one of the greatest palaces in Florence, the Palazzo Spini Feroni, the very palace that till today is his flagship store and Ferragamo museum. Ferragamo was more than a designer, he a was an innovator, during the war times when steel and leather were a bit scarce, Ferragamo found other creative solutions such as making cork wedges and platform shoes with non common materials such as fish skin, wire, raffia, candy wrappers cellophane ad hemp. Many of his elevated shoes were Egyptian artifact inspired. In 1947 he was honored with the prestigious Neiman Marcus Fashion Award for a he produced called the invisible shoe made from nylon strands. ways World War II came to an end and the company was on it’s way to success, expanding and producing 350 hand-made pairs of shoes a day. Unfortunately, Ferragamo died in 1960, leaving behind his wife Wanda and their five children, they own the company, Wanda died in 2006, the company is still family owned. The brand offers high quality luxury goods. Ferragamo designed thousands of shoes and amongst them, a few styles that are still iconic today, proving to maintain that same integrity Ferragamo has for his shoes. After 80 years, Salvatorre Ferragamo remains one of the most respected brands in the world. Ferragamo shoes are beautiful, unique and elegant no matter what style.

RHUMELL, an established International brand from Indonesia entering the American marketplace. Thus Rhumell concentrates on casual sports shoes for both men and women, the men’s line is much stronger delivering some really unique and cool sneakers. What really caught my eyes was the construction of their shoes uppers , that carry really unique embroidered and prints with great colors, they also include an additional removable insole with every pair of a different color. They also have the I CARE program, with each purchase they give back a pair to the orphanage and poor children around the world.
